Why Work With Me

No dogma. I've studied all of the major dietary theories under the pioneers in the nutrition industry. There is no single "right way." A key tenet of my work is the concept that each person has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Going on this principle, I’ll support you to make positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences, and ancestral background.

I spend time with you. Each of our sessions last 50 minutes. Isn't that a nice change from the usual hurried in-and-out that you experience when you finally get time with your doctor?

I listen. This is all about you. Tell me how you're feeling, what you think, what you like, what you want to do.

I look at the big picture. I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? As we work together, we will look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole. and develop a strategy to get you on the road to wellness.

Your goals, not mine. I'm not going to tell you that you should weigh a certain amount; I'm not going to tell you that you should aim to run a marathon. You tell me what you want to accomplish, and I'll help you get there.

Step-by-step plan. Once we establish what your goals are, I'll create a step-by-step plan to help you get there, a little bit at a time. I won't overwhelm you with 10 different changes to make in the first two weeks. We have structure, we have goals, we have plans, we have an end date.

Accountability. Don't we all do a little better when someone's holding us accountable? That's what I'm here for. I'll help you stay on track and be your rock when you're wavering.

Support between sessions. Going to a restaurant and need help deciding what to order? At the grocery store with a question? Heading out on vacation and looking for support in staying true to your goals? Text me, email me, send me a message. I'm here for you.

Rewards, gifts, and incentives. Each month I'll have a little something for you to keep it fun.

Lending library. I have an array of books on health, wellness and nutrition that you can borrow.

Resources and handouts. Need recipes? Coming your way. Going gluten free? I'll provide you with information to keep and use for the long term.

I teach, setting you up for long-term success. You'll learn the "why" behind my recommendations, so you can use them and tweak them according to your unique needs. Plus, my program is structured to ensure that you make permanent changes that you can keep up for the long haul. I don't want to help you lose ten pounds that you'll put back on after you stop seeing me. I want to help you listen to your body, understand what it's saying, and create healthy habits that will last a lifetime.

I walk the walk. I'm not saying that all traditional providers don't practice what they preach, but I have seen my fair share of overweight doctors who smoke or the R.D./nutritionist who puts four sugars in her Dunkin' Donuts coffee. This isn't just a job to me -- I'm deeply passionate about living a long, healthy, fulfilling life, and I want to share that passion. Changing what I ate changed my life.
